One positive test, ten recoveries since yesterday
Yesterday’s total of 177 corona cases has been adjusted to 178, and after one positive test has been registered since yesterday, today’s total is 179.
Ten recoveries were announced this morning, bringing the total number of recoveries to 91. Subtracting this number from the 179 total brings number of active corona cases to 88.
The daily number of new corona cases in the past week (from last Friday to this morning) has been as follows: 10, 5, 4, 8, 2, 4, 4 and 1. These figures, published on corona.fo, are subject to daily adjustment due to occasional irregularities in testing.
One person is currently receiving treatment at the National Hospital’s corona ward, and the official number of people currently in quarantine is 344.
It is now exactly one month since the first corona positive test in the Faroes was registered. The highest number of positive tests registered in one day is 19, which was on 16 March.
Age, gender and location
The 20-29 age group features most prominently in the corona stats, with 37 cases. Next up is the 50-59 age group (34), followed by the 40-49s (32), the 10-19s (21), the 30-39s (18), the 60-69s (17), the 0-9s (10), the 70-79s (4) and the 80+ group (4).
Women feature slightly more prominently in the figures, with the gender split of those infected standing at 54% women and 46% men.
The Suðurstreymoy district, which includes Tórshavn, has the highest number of positive cases, with between 89 and 93. Second on the list is Norðoyggjar, which includes Klaksvík, with 44 cases, followed by Eysturoy (20), Vágar (11) and Norðstreymoy (9). Figures below 3 are not announced on corona.fo. Sandoy and Suðuroy are not featured on this list.
