Corona situation under control despite new case
Yesterday’s positive corona test should not be regarded as a major setback in the Faroese efforts to suppress COVID-19, according to acting chief medical officer Anette Lykke Petri.
“This person contracted the virus abroad and subsequently travelled to the Faroes, so we’re not talking about domestic infection,” she says.
The people in the Faroes who have been in contact with the infected person have been sent into quarantine, and those who travelled on the same flight as the infected person have been informed.

“All these people will go into a 14-day quarantine, so it is fair to say that the corona situation in the Faroe Islands is still under control. But it is crucial that everyone keeps adhering to the guidelines set out by the health authorities.”
Due to data protection laws, Petri is not allowed to disclose the date when the infected person arrived in the Faroes.
As relatively few tests were carried out yesterday, no new corona statistics have been announced today on corona.fo. The next announcement is scheduled for tomorrow.
