A new test confirms that the traveller was infected with the coronavirus in mid-June, and that the virus is no longer active.

This means that all of the 188 total Covid-19 cases in the Faroes have recovered.

Saturday’s positive test was the first one registered in the country since 22 April.

The 22 April test also came from a passenger arriving at the airport. The last domestic infection was registered on 6 April.

The first positive test came on 3 March, and the number of positive tests peaked on 16 March when 19 people tested positive for Covid-19.

A total of 16,887 tests have so far been carried out in the Faroes.
