Safety guidelines ahead of new school term
Public safety guidelines have been issued in preparation for Tuesday when the country’s 44 elementary schools open their doors to 7.321 pupils.
The key components of the Covid-19 safety guidelines for schools are as follows:
- All classes will be kept separate to minimise the risk of infection and to simplify contact tracing in case of infection.
- Large gatherings such as the morning assembly have been suspended, and special arrangements have been made for breaks between lessons.

- All schools will have clear procedures regarding distancing and hygiene.
- Parents are asked to drop off their children outside the school entrance and not enter themselves.
- The aim is to have all teachers tested for Covid-19 before school start.
The Ministry of Culture, which oversees education, will monitor the public health guidelines and make adjustments accordingly.
