Send or collect your parcels at the petrol station
Posta is extending its parcel service in response to the massive growth in online sales.
Extending the parcel drop-off/collection points to 11 Magn petrol stations across the country will significantly ease the pressure caused by parcel distribution, while at the same time extend the service hours beyond the post office opening hours, says Posta CEO Joel undir Leitinum.
“Online sales have seen a big increase for many years now, and since the start of the Covid pandemic, online sales have hit the roof, not only internationally but also domestically here in the Faroe Islands,” he says.
How it works
To send a parcel, pay the postage fee on the Posta app, and you get a 5-letter code which you write on the parcel along with the recipient’s name and address, and then you hand it in at a Magn petrol station.
Posta will continue to deliver parcels to addresses. If the recipient is not home at the time of delivery, the postman will leave a note specifying the nearest Magn petrol station where the parcel can be collected.
Eleven Magn stations currently participate in the new parcel service:
- Tórshavn, Ringvegurin
- Tórshavn, Frælsið
- Klaksvík, Stangarvegur
- Saltangará, Heiðavegur, Eysturoy
- Miðvágur, Vágar
- Gøtudalur, Eysturoy
- Vágur, Suðuroy
- Trongisvágur, Suðuroy
- Sandur, Sandoy
- Við Streymin, Eysturoy
- Vestmanna, Streymoy.
