All incoming travellers, regardless of where they are travelling from, should take a follow-up Covid-19 test six days after the test taken upon arrival in the country.

This is the view of Dr Bjarni á Steig, the health ministry’s Covid-19 consultant.

“We are standing in the eye of a Covid-19 storm raging across Europe. And now we need to yet again redirect our focus on our borders,” he says.

“The follow-up tests are free of charge and easily accessible, so I would urge anyone travelling to the Faroes to make use of this service.”

Travellers are also urged to be extra mindful of the health guidelines regarding social distancing and hygiene in the first 14 days after arrival.
