”The City Council’s new coalition agreement includes a plan for a review of the entire daycare system,” says Annfinn Brekkstein, who chairs the council’s culture committee and oversees the daycare system in Tórshavn Municipality.

“We are acutely aware of the criticism against the BARN system, and we will be taking a close look at how we can improve it for all parties concerned.”

He adds that preparations are underway and a complete set of review recommendations will be passed on to the City Council administration in mid-February.

“As part of our plan to increase the overall number of daycare places, we have also set out to build a new daycare centre in Argir.”
