A power generator failure this morning caused a fire inside the Streymoy-Sandoy subsea tunnel, currently under construction

No-one was injured after a diesel power generator caught fire around the midway point of the Sandoy subsea tunnel this morning.
Two tunnel workers were trapped in the area where the fire broke out, but they have now been taken away to safety and are reported to be unharmed.
“The fire has been extinguished. We are making further checks, but the situation is under control,” says tunnel project manager Teitur Samuelsen.
