In 2017, 78 pregnant women identified themselves as smokers at the first trimester screening. The average birth weight of these women’s babies was 3,440 grams.

For the women who did not smoke, the average birth weight was 258 grams higher, at 3,698 grams.

In 2016, these figures were 3,560g and 3,732g respectively, a difference of 172 grams.
