Safe to drink tap water again
Citizens in Tórshavn, Hoyvík and parts of Argir have been asked to boil their drinking water over the past few days.
The reason was that the water had been contaminated with E coli and enterococci, bacteria which can be especially harmful to old people and babies.
Bacteria in drinking water are a common occurrence in late summer, when the rain transmits large amounts of dirt from sheep and birds, leaving the water purifying plant unable to clean it all.
