Daycare reopening next week
Most of the daycare institutions that closed down due to the Covid-19 threat will open their doors again on Monday.
“We had a high-risk situation last week, but having consulted with the health authorities, we now believe it is safe to cautiously reopen our daycare centres,” says Tórshavn mayor Annika Olsen.
”Not all the centres are fully staffed, but we will ensure that all staff starting work on Monday will have undergone sufficient Covid-19 testing.”
The safety guidelines issued during the first Covid-19 wave this spring will still apply.

Daycare centres elsewhere in the country will also reopen on Monday, but some local councils require parents to notify daycare centres in advance of their children’s attendance. These include Klaksvík, Sjóvar, Sunda and Vága municipalities.
Fuglafjørður, Eystur and Vestmanna municipalities will also reopen their daycare centres on Monday.
