Second study on 'dark figure' of Covid-19

In April, Faroese researchers set out to shed light on Covid cases that had not been registered through official testing – the so-called 'dark figure of Covid-19'.
In this study, a random sample of 1,075 randomly selected members the public had their antibodies measured to determine if they had beaten the virus and gained some degree of immunity to it.
In the coming days, 1,500 people in the Faroes will be sent an invitation to take part in a follow-up study on undocumented Covid cases.
Beyond the official figures
According to the Department of Occupational and Public Health, the study results will provide a clearer idea, beyond the official figures, of how many people in the Faroes have contracted Covid-19 since the first positive case was registered on 3 March.
”This information will enable the authorities to make much more informed decisions,” professor Pál Weihe, chief physician at the Department of Occupational and Public Health, said in April.
As part of the follow-up study, blood tests will be carried out around the country from 21 to 30 November.
