Jury sentencing should be subject to appeal

Preparations for a new Administration of Justice Act are underway

A working group consisting of 12 legal specialists is preparing a New Administration of Justice Act.

A new Administration of Justice Act will allow defendants declared guilty by a Faroese jury to appeal the sentencing to the High Court.

The new Act will contain more than 200 amendments to the current Act, including improvements to public security.

A working group, consisting of 12 Faroese and Danish legal experts, was appointed in March 2017 to prepare the new Act.
