Official Covid figures are “highly reliable”
Only three out of 960 study participants (0.3 percent) had Covid-19 antibodies in their bloodstream.
This is the preliminary result of a follow-up study on this spring’s probe into Covid cases that had not been registered through official testing – the so-called 'dark figure of Covid-19'.
Researchers conclude from this figure that very few people in the Faroe Islands have unknowingly had the virus.

The study, conducted between 21 and 30 November, is headed by professor Pál Weihe and researcher Maria Skaalum Petersen of the Department of Occupational and Public Health, in partnership with the Food and Veterinary Authority, the National Hospital, the University of the Faroe Islands and the chief medical officer.
“Easy access to testing, thorough contact tracing and a solid quarantine strategy appear to be working well, and our results indicate that the official Covid-19 figures are highly reliable” says Petersen.
The study participants were aged between 0 and 98 and consisted of 52 percent men and 48 women from across the islands.
