Tourist numbers in Mykines increased four-fold this year due to poor weather conditions last year

Some 4,400 people travelled to and from Mykines in May this year, which is four times as many as May last year.
The reason for the big difference is that May 2018 had unusually poor sailing conditions.
The Tórshavn-Suðuroy route, on the other hand, has seen a decrease in tourist numbers, going from 26,000 in May last year to 19,000 in May this year.
