Expert: wear masks on flights and at mass events

The World Health Organization (WHO) has up to now said there is insufficient proof that wearing safety masks protects against the spread of the coronavirus.

The WHO has now revised this advice, saying that protective masks are an effective way of preventing infection, especially at mass events.

And Faroese public health professor Pál Weihe agrees:

“These revised guidelines do not surprise me,” he says. “With no active corona cases in our country, there is no need to wear masks in public. However, in places and situations where social distancing is not easy to practice, such as on flights and at mass events, it makes good sense to wear a mask.”
