Bird flu has been confirmed in the Faroes for the second time.

A total of 58 birds were recently tested for bird flu, and one of the tests came out positive.

The bird in question was a great black-backed gull (Larus marinus) found dead on a stretch of sand in Sørvágur on 21 January this year.

HFS is planning to resume its monitoring of bird flu in wild birds this spring.
