Tórshavn City council needs more than ten percent of the Glyvursnes quarry land to get enough stone to complete the expansion of its harbour.

When work started on expanding Tórshavn’s eastern harbour, the City Council purchased 92,000 square metres of quarry land at the Glyvursnes headland southeast of the city.

It has now become clear that another 300,000 cubic metres of stone are required for the project.

This means that the City Council needs to purchase another 9,500 square metres of quarry land.

The decision to spend DKK 885,000 on the additional quarry land will be made at Thursday’s council meeting.
