Airline pilots expecting layoffs
Pilots working for Atlantic Airways can expect to lose their jobs in the coming days, according to the Faroese Airline Pilots’ Union.
This news comes five days after the national airline announced that it will be laying off 90 staff members at the end of this month.
The union, which held an extraordinary general meeting on Friday, expects to see many of its members being handed their notice by the end of this month.
In a press release, the union writes that it will be initiating “constructive talks” in the coming days with the airline in an effort to save as many jobs as possible.
The union wants to ensure that the conditions laid down in the pilots’ employment contracts will be met during the notice period.
