KvF ordered to reassess news editor’s dismissal

In April, the culture ministry upheld Liljan Weihe’s appeal against her dismissal, following allegations of disloyal conduct towards KVF’s management.

KvF’s management then decided to transfer Weihe to another role within the news department.

Weihe’s lawyer appealed this decision, arguing that the decision was equivalent to a dismissal.

Kringvarp Føroya has now been ordered to take a closer look at the evidence in the case.

According to the verdict, the interdepartmental transferral involved such substantial changes in the news editor’s daily role that it is to be regarded as a dismissal with an option for another role in the newsroom.

A dismissal must be treated in accordance with the administrative law and administrative best practice, the verdict states.
