Auditor-General to investigate Glasir scandal

A comprehensive probe will seek to unravel what went wrong in the construction of Tórshavn’s new educational centre, Glasir. The project has been marred with financial inconsistencies and extra costs.
And now the Auditor-General will try to find out what went wrong and why.
Jónleif Johannesen, the chairman of the Parliament’s Audit Committee, which appointed the Auditor-General to head the investigation, says the probe will go into every possible detail.
Last week, contractor Landsverk announced that there would be extra costs to the amount of DKK 30 million, but this amount may be even bigger.
“We may receive even more bills,” Landsverk’s interim CEO, Árant Andriasson, said on Tuesday.
“There are also some disagreements with some of the subcontractors regarding the amounts in some of the invoices, and that’s why we cannot accurately predict the extra costs. But we expect to have more details soon.”
The Auditor-General’s investigation, which will include a scrutiny of Landsverk, the Ministry of Transport, the Ministry of Culture and the Ministry of Finance, is expected to be completed in two months’ time.
