Tele boss: OK to scrutinise public CEO salaries

All citizens have the right to know in detail how much the CEO of a public limited company earns.
So says Kristian Davidsen, former CEO of Føroya Tele, who currently heads Tele-Post, a public limited company in Greenland.
Greenlandic newspaper Sermitsiaq, which recently ran a theme on salaries and transparency in the country’s public limited companies, has revealed that Davidsen is the third-highest earner in Greenland, with an annual salary of DKK 3.4 million.
“A natural right”
Some readers were surprised to see that Tele-Post supplied extensive details of Davidsen’s salaries, as most other public companies were more conservative with their CEO salary details.
“As I see it, the public has a right to know details about CEO salaries, especially when it comes to public limited companies, which are funded by the taxpayer,” Davidsen told Sermitsiaq.
