First electric buses coming soon
Tórshavn City Council last month pledged to convert its entire city bus fleet to electric by 2027.
The first two electric buses, along with 15 new diesel buses, will be purchased soon as part of a new eight-year city bus deal between the city council and Gundurs Bussar.
The two electric buses will be put into regular service on the city’s route 4 from 1 January 2023, when the new contract comes into force.
New route
Route 4 and route 5 will be merged into one route – route 4 – which the city council says will make it easier for residents in the Hoyvík area to travel directly to the city’s west end.
This new route will form an important part of the city council’s general green transition.
The council will be in regular consultation with Gundurs Bussar about how to reach the zero-emission city bus objective by 2027.
