Although the #MeToo movement has not gained as much traction in the Faroes as elsewhere in the world, indications are that sexual harassment is far from uncommon here.

A new opinion poll commissioned by KvF suggests that one in four women and one in ten men have experienced violation of their sexual boundaries by a work colleague.

According to the poll, most of the sexual harassment had occurred in work environments, but the nightlife environment also features prominently in the poll results.

Respondents reported various degrees of sexual harassment ranging from verbal harassment of a sexual nature to physical acts of a sexual nature such as touching a person’s genitals.

Men are more likely than women to report sexual harassment, but in many cases the reported harassment has no consequences, according to the poll.
