Hotel industry growth continues
Almost 1,000 more overnight stays were registered in the first quarter of this year, compared with Q1 in 2018

The first quarter of 2019 saw 21,478 overnight stays in Faroese hotels, which is a 4.6-percent increase on the first quarter of last year.

A majority of the visitors are Faroese and Danish. The greatest increase in terms of nationality was represented by Danes, with a growth of 19 percent on Q1 last year.

There has also been a significant rise in the number of guests from North America, Asia, Africa, Norway, Iceland, Finland, France and Spain, according to Statistics Faroe Islands. 

Meanwhile, visitor numbers from Germany have halved since Q1 2018 and the number of British guests has gone down by a quarter.
