Drilling work at the Eysturoy-Tórshavn tunnel finished last month, and the drilling equipment has now been transported to Sandoy.

The drilling on the Sandoy side started on 4 July, and 100 metres have so far been drilled.

Drilling will start on the Streymoy side early next month.

Completed in 2023

The tunnel will be ready to use in December 2023 if all goes according to plan.

It is estimated that 300-400 vehicles will be travelling through the tunnel per day.

The Sandoy tunnel will be 10.8 km long, which makes it the longest tunnel in the country.
