New figures show that significantly more men than women move to the Faroes

Far more men than women are moving to the Faroes, new figures from Statistics Faroe Islands reveal.

Net migration figures show that 187 more men than women moved to the Faroes from 1 February 2018 to 1 February 2019.

The first quarter of last year and of this year saw a particularly high proportion of men moving to the islands.

The total population increase over the past 12 months was 844, or 1.7 percent. On 1 February this year, the Faroese population stood at 51,440.
