No hiking in the mountains

During the hare hunting season (2 November - 31 December) people are not allowed to walk in the mountains. The ban is used as a security measure, says Pól Sundskarð, the owner of hiking.fo, who together with Visit Tórshavn is heading the initiative.

Visit Faroe Islands does not endorse a full ban on hiking in the mountains, but they advise everyone to stay away from the mountains while bullets fly during the hare hunting season.

All involved parties agree that the rules and regulations in this matter need to be clarified.
