Development quotas withdrawn

Four shipping companies stand to lose the development quotas they were given in August.

A basic requirement for receiving a development quota is that it should generate activity in the areas where they are given.

But instead of landing the pelagic fish in Vestmanna, Hvalba and Sandoy, where the companies are based, much of the fish has been landed in Fuglafjørður.

The four shipping companies Vestmanna Seafood, Delta Seafood. P/F Steintór & TG Fisk and P/F Vørustíggjur have all landed significant amounts of their quota (mostly mackerel and North Sea herring) in Fuglafjørður.

P/F Steintór og TG Fish and Vørustíggjur were stripped of their 2018 development quota. Vestmanna Seafood has been asked to submit a report by 21 November, and Delta Seafood was given a warning.
