Glasir: contractor relied on verbal deals

Landsverk, which oversaw the construction of the Glasir college, resorted to verbal agreements with suppliers in the lead-up to the 10 August opening date. Many of the unpaid bills which have emerged recently are a consequence of these agreements, Landsverk now reveals.

The verbal agreements came as Landsverk was struggling meet the completion deadline.

Although the Ministry of Culture was notified on 5 January about DKK 30 million in unpaid bills, Parliament was not informed of this. Not until 16 days later, when culture minister Rigmor Dam resigned, was the public informed of the unpaid bills.

The new interim CEO of Landsverk, Árant Andriasson, and former CEO, Ewald Kjølbro, have both declined to comment on the matter.
