Doubling next year’s tourism turnover ‘realistic’

The estimated annual turnover in the Faroese tourism industry is DKK 730 million, according to figures from Faroe Statistics and Visit Faroe Islands.

This is a conservative estimate, as figures from Airbnb are not included. Over the past year, the main efforts have been placed on developing administrative sections of the industry.

For this reason, no major advertising campaigns have been made since the successful Sheep View and the Faroe Islands Translate projects, which received rave reviews across the world last year.

This has, however, not halted the strong growth in the industry, and according to Visit Faroe Islands, the target of doubling the annual turnover next year is likely to become a reality.
