Ships reminded to notify customs authorities
Tax and customs authority TAKS is reminding ship crews of their duty to inform the customs house when they return from abroad
16.06.2019 - 09:11
Ships are required by law to notify the customs authorities when they arrive in the Faroes from an overseas port.
This rule applies not only to Faroese fishing vessels but also to foreign pleasure boats and aircraft, as well as foreign ships landing fish or bunkering at a Faroese port.
The duty to give notice of arrival lies with each individual vessel, but the harbour authorities are also obliged to inform the customs authorities in case of any doubts.
Unannounced arrivals may result in a fine.
