Man facing attempted murder charge

A man in his early 20s is remanded in custody after allegedly attacking a female staff member at the psychiatric ward where he is a patient on Saturday.

The incident, in which the man is said to have put a choke hold on the woman, took place as the two were taking a walk along river Sandá on the border between Tórshavn and Argir on Saturday. 

The woman managed to call the police herself. Police and ambulance arrived shortly afterwards, and the man was arrested.

Police are investigating the incident and are currently interviewing to eyewitnesses.
