Iceland’s biggest drugs haul in a decade occurred on Thursday when Faroese ferry Norröna arrived at the port of Seydisfjørður.

A total of 45 kilos of hard drugs such as cocaine and amphetamine were seized, according to Icelandic media reports.

Faroese police not contacted

A sniffer dog detected the drugs hidden in a car, which is currently being dismantled for further investigation.

Police in Iceland say they have detained two “foreign nationals” for two weeks in connection with the drugs haul.

Faroese police have not yet been asked to launch investigations here.
