Airport passenger numbers on a steady rise

The first seven months of this year saw 249,887 passengers travelling through Vágar Airport, an increase of 12.7 percent on the same period last year.

Up until 1 August, 3,233 flights were registered at the airport. This is an increase of 0.9 percent, as the new aircraft now have more seats than before.

In July this year, 63,788 people travelled through the airport – and increase of 16.2 percent on July 2018. The number of flights rose by 20.8 percent this July compared to July 2018.

While passenger numbers continue to rise, cargo and airmail figures are on a decline.
