HB wins cup final marred by fog

After 15 years with no luck in the Løgmanssteypið cup, HB rose to the top again on Saturday after beating Víkingur 3-1.

The cup final will go into the history books as the one barely anyone saw, as neither players nor the referee – and certainly not the fans – had full visibility of the game due to thick fog through most of the match.

Things did not improve when, minutes from the whistle when HB had secured its 3-1 lead, delighted HB fans lit up flares, which made it virtually impossible for anyone to see what was going on.

But the result stands, and HB are cup winners in 2019.
