National football team boss quits
Lars Olsen stands down, saying development in the past year has been unsatisfactory
Lars Olsen

Lars Olsen will stand down after eight years as national football team coach when his contract expires on New Year.

“I’m afraid our development this year has not lived up to our expectations,” he said at today’s news conference.

His last games in charge of the Faroese national football team will be the home games against Romania and Malta and the away games against Norway and Sweden.

Lars Olsen was team captain of the Danish national football team for a record 69 matches and captained the Denmark team that won the 1992 European Championship.
