Police officers in Vágar arrested two men on Friday after reports of the men breaking into a house with the intention of causing harm to a third man inside.

The altercation escalated to a point at which a knife was drawn. The man in the house received minor injuries, but they did not come from the knife.

Both alleged assailants have been questioned by the police, and one of them will undergo a preliminary examination today or tomorrow. The motive behind the break-in and the subsequent brawl is unclear.

Driver caught under the influence of drugs

An 18-year-old driver was arrested on Saturday morning. When police officers stopped the car, it turned out that he had been driving without a licence.

Officers were alerted by a smell in the car, which resulted in the driver being blood tested. The results showed that he was under the influence of illegal drugs.

After searching the car, officers found a small amount of illegal substances. The man will be charged with breaching the law on illegal substances.

Police have also been kept busy over the weekend dealing with other instances of violent behaviour, drunk people sleeping in the streets and noise.
