HB appoints new manager

New HB manager Jens Berthel Askou has many years of managerial experience in Danish top-level football.

For the past year he has been the manager of Danish Superliga club Vendsyssel. He has also managed Danish first division clubs Skive IK and Thisted FC.

Prior to his coaching career, he played for a number of Danish clubs before moving abroad, first to Turkish club Kasımpaşa and then to Norwich City in England, before moving back to Denmark to play for Vejle BK and Esbjerg.

Exciting challenge

When asked why he decided to accept the offer to manage HB, he said that it is an exciting challenge, both as a team manager but also on a personal level to try something different.

He added that his experience playing for clubs outside of Denmark will help him take on the challenge ahead.

Askou, who takes over from Icelandic coach Heimir Guðjónsson, will start in his new job on 1 December, and the contract will run until the end of 2021.
