Pedagogue Union wants hazard pay for members
The Pedagogue Union this morning sent employers a request for hazard pay for staff who have worked or will be working during the corona crisis.
Workers in other areas are equipped with protective gear such as suits, masks and gloves, argues the union, but its members are not given such equipment.
The union’s members deserve extra pay because they risk their health on a daily basis in their work.

“We have had members who have been infected and many others who have had to go into quarantine as a result of their work,” says union chairman Jógvan Philbrow.
“And now our members are asked to come to work again despite safety concerns from health professionals about the timing of Monday’s reopening of daycare institutions. With all this uncertainty and all these risks in mind, a little extra compensation is the least we can ask for.”
