Police warn of child porn on social media

The police have been informed that a video clip of a naked boy aged below 18 is circulating on social media in the Faroes.
Police are urging people not to share the video clip in question, or indeed any similar material, as doing so is punishable by law, in accordance with article 236, section 1 of the criminal law.
This case is akin to the so-called “Umbrella” case in Denmark in which more than 1,000 people were charged with sharing a similar video clip.
Delete immediately
If you receive the video clip, delete it immediately and do not in any circumstances share it with others.
Many are unfamiliar with the consequences of sharing this type of material. Receiving an image or video clip does not entitle you to share it, according to the police. Sharing it could result in a prison term of up to two years.
Express consent is required for sharing this type of images or video clips.
