New Covid restrictions “a possibility”

Prime Minister Bárður á Steig Nielsen has called a meeting with the health authorities tomorrow to discuss whether to introduce new Covid restrictions.
This comes after Danish health authorities today announced a number of new Covid restrictions amid a recent spike in daily infections.
“Although the situation in our country is nowhere near as bad as in Denmark and elsewhere in Europe, this is a time of the year in which many students and expats return home,” says Nielsen.
Positive results in follow-up tests
“They are of course welcome to do so, but considering the situation abroad and also that some of our recent positive test results have appeared in follow-up tests six days after the people arrived from abroad, it makes sense to bring this matter up now."
The Prime Minister has called the health minister, the chief medical doctor and the head of the epidemic commission to the meeting, which he says will focus on possible further restrictive measures between the initial tests and the sixth-day follow-up tests.
In related news, no positive Covid tests were registered yesterday.
