Exciting times for music exports

No fewer than five Faroese acts will be performing at major Icelandic showcase festival Iceland Airwaves in early November, reports Faroese Music Exports (FMX).
Showcase festivals are music festivals that combine live music performances with music industry conferences and events.
In early September, Dania Ó. Tausen will be the first Faroese artist to perform at the Vill Vill Vest festival in Bergen, Norway.
Two weeks later, Brimheim and Joe & the Shitboys will be playing at Oslo’s by:Larm festival, billed as the biggest and most important showcase festival in Scandinavia.
by:Larm will be followed by the internationally renowned Reeperbahn festival in Hamburg, Germany, which will also feature performances by Brimheim and Joe & The Shitboys.
In October, young rapper Marius DC will be the first Faroese artist to perform at Rotterdam’s New Skool Rules, said to be Europe’s largest showcase festival for hip hop and rap.
Marius DC is one of the five acts billed for Iceland Airwaves, along with Janus Rasmussen, Brimheim, Kóboykex and Guðrið Hansdóttir.
"These are exciting times for the Faroese music industry,” says Glenn Larsen, manager of FMX.
"In addition to all these upcoming performances, we expect to see Faroese representation at other major festivals next year, including Trondheim Calling, Eurosonic (ESNS), Tallinn Music Week and Denmark’s SPOT."
Representatives for Hamburg’s Reeperbahn Festival and Brighton’s The Great Escape visited this year’s G! festival in Gøta, where they had meetings with representatives of the Faroese music industry.
