Ten tonnes of rubbish cleared away
Total figure is expected to increase over the coming days

About 1,000 people took part in the annual ‘Rudda Føroyar’ cleanup day yesterday.

The preliminary figures show that about ten tonnes of rubbish have been cleared away across the country.

According to the organisers, the total will increase as many schools and businesses across the country will continue tidying up on Monday.

Part of international campaign

Rudda Føroyar https://ruddaforoyar.fo/ is part of the World Cleanup Day, a global social action programme aimed at combating the global solid waste problem, held on the third Saturday of September.

At last year’s Rudda Føroyar, 1,234 people cleared away 15 tonnes of waste across the country.
