Government preparing “situation room”
A so-called situation room is part of the government’s plan to become more active and independent in foreign affairs

10.11.2019 - 13:07

Foreign minister Jenis á Rana has announced that the government is preparing a situation room in the Tinganes government building in Tórshavn.

A situation room is a room at a political or military headquarters in which sensitive military or political information is channelled.

The government is also determining procedures for who should be granted access to the situation room and the sensitive information contained therein.

These are some of the formal requirements for Faroese authorities to be granted a more active and independent role in foreign policy decision making.

The now defunct Arctic Command Centre in Mjørkadalur, Streymoy, had a situation room during the Cold War period.
