Doubts surrounding hospital expansion costs

The total price of the expansion of Tórshavn’s National Hospital, including the construction of the new so-called H-building, will exceed DKK 800 million.

It is at this point impossible to determine the total costs of the expansion project, says Jón Sólsker, who heads main contractor Landsverk’s construction department.

“Politicians need to prepare to pay many more millions to complete this project,” he says. “There are simply too many loose ends – too many extra costs which were not taken into the equation when the project started.”

MPs are expected to vote in favour of the DKK 152 million additional appropriation, after which a new and extensive planning round will take place to help determine the exact scope and costs of the hospital expansion.
