A man who travelled to the Faroes from Paris on February 24 has contracted the coronavirus.

The man, identified as Kaj J. Skipanes from Hoyvík, noticed the symptoms on 29 February.

He had attended a Christian conference in Paris together with his wife.

Family quarantined

Mr Skipanes is now quarantined in his Hoyvík home together with three of his family members, who have all tested negative but who have been ordered to stay at home for the next two weeks.

Fourteen people in total are believed to have been in direct contact with Mr Skipanes recently, and they have now been quarantined in their homes.

Chief Medical Officer of the Faroe Islands, Lars Fodgaard Møller, says that those who travelled on the same flight as Mr Skipanes on 24 February do not need to undergo tests.
