Corona has gained a foothold on the Faroe Islands.

Chief Medical Officer Lars Fodgaard Møller has announced that most of those infected live in Tórshavn or Klaksvík. Most of them were infected in the Faroe Islands.

None are hospitalised but many are bedridden, says Møller, who has not yet been in contact with all 47 persons.

At the start of the outbreak, infected people and those close to them were sent into quarantine at Hotel Vágar, but now most have gone back to their respective homes.

Getting trickier to trace infections

Since the start of the outbreak, Møller and his team of infection experts have worked hard to trace people with whom the infected persons have been in contact to prevent the spread of the virus.

He says that this is becoming increasingly difficult to do now that the total number of infected people has reached 47. But they are still doing everything they can to trace the infections.
