BankNordik is warning against a phishing scam sent via SMS messages to children and teenagers yesterday.

Digital scammers are skilled at deceiving young people, which is why parents are urged to monitor their children’s online activities, says BankNordik.

The bank has issued the following tips for parents:

• Teach your child about personal information and how to protect it

• Parents should be familiar with the most common scams targeted at children

• Monitor your child’s social media use and create a good framework for talking about safe online behaviour and habits

• If your child has clicked the link in the message and disclosed personal information, freeze the child’s credit/debit card immediately. This can be done in your bank’s online portal.
