The Faroese population has grown to the highest level ever recorded, reports Statistics Faroe Islands.

The population growth is driven by net migration, with more people moving to the Faroe Islands than leaving. The excess of births over deaths also contributes to the growth.

The population growth has been slowing down in recent months, but it is still much higher than a decade ago.

Of the 3,205 non-Danish citizens residing in the Faroes on 1 July, 1,295 are citizens of European countries outside of the Nordic region and 1,030 are from Asia.
